Access & Safety at the Nanofab

Cleanroom access

NU Nanofab provides a series of trainings for our students, postdocs and researchers to ensure safe and efficient work in a shared environment for everyone. Our goal is to provide in-depth trainings that will prepare our users to perform research not only at the NU Nanofab, but also at other academic institutions and in industry.

To get an access to the cleanroom each user has to at attend a half-a-day-long two-session training. The first session discusses cleanroom policies, infrastructure and capabilities. The second session is on-the-job training, demonstrating how to work inside a cleanroom. Afterwards, users can request access on individual equipment, obtaining hands-on training on state-of-the-art tools. Each user is assigned a mentor, who will help them develop first nanofabrication process flows.

To request a general cleanroom training contact Arman Tuigynbek.

Safety

Safe operation inside the cleanroom is paramount. Safety will never be sacrificed for speed or convenience. Each research activity inside the cleanroom requires a training or series of trainings. All users should discuss new processes with Nanofab staff to identify correct safety controls.
